The MICDS boys cross country team earned a trip to the state meet on next Friday November 7, thanks to an outstanding set of performances at the Class 3 District 1 meet in Ironton, Missouri Saturday. Six of the seven members set personal records in the meet and four earned medals (top 30 individuals) on the way to qualifying to compete as a team at the next level with a third place team finish. Individual medalists included Heru Bey (2nd), co-captain Shil Penilla (13th), Forest Gong (20th) and Cyrus Kummer (22nd). Heru Bey's 16:09.35 sits atop the MICDS all time 5k race list. Dylan McDonough's 31st place finish placed him just out of the individual medal range, but he, along with co-captain Luke McGinness (38th) and Will Fendler (45th) all registered significant improvements in their times, setting significant advance in their personal records, helping MICDS advance to state as a team.
