BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Coach Rappleye | 9/29/2025

MICDS boys finished 9th in the 2025 Gans Creek Classic Blue Division race and were 3rd class three team overall in race with 44 scoring school teams. Junior Heru Bey (7th) and senior Shil Penilla (23rd) medaled with top 25 finishes out of almost 350 runners.

Wow! We could not be happier with the effort and results of the meet results from Saturday at the 2025 Gans Creek Classic in Columbia: Seven runners set significant personal records on the Gans Creek Course, Heru Bey and Shil Penilla both medaled, the Varsity team finished 9th in the competitive Blue Division and were the 3rd place class 3 team in the race. The team rose to the challenge of the meet size, the warm temperatures, and their efforts come from the hard work they have been doing in practice.

Heru Bey ran his second best time of the year after opening with a sub five minute mile to finish 7th and Shil, who opened in a first mile around 5:05 set a significant Personal record in 16:54, finished 23rd overall (out of nearly 350 finishers). And after being projected to finish 20th, the Varsity squad placed in the top ten overall. Cyrus Kummer ran almost a minute faster than his previous PR to break through into the 17 minute levels, and his race played a significant part in our ability to race above others' expectations. Dylan McDonough after hovering in the low 19s beat the 18:30 barrier for his PR and Forest Gong completed the team score with a personal record in 18:53.6.
